A few years ago I was invited to watch a Toastmasters speech competition in Miami. One of the speakers had a very powerful message that brought me to tears. He told a short story about a musician who died without ever having made any music. He closed his speech by saying
“don’t die with your music still inside you”
I knew I had dreams I wasn’t actively pursuing at the time, and the thought of dying without at least giving it a solid effort was too much for me emotionally. Now I pass this message on to you.
Your dreams are more important than the life you’ve set up. I’m not saying your family isn’t important. I’m sure your family is part of your dream. But if you aren’t waking up feeling fulfilled every day, or doing what you love, or feeling free, then that’s an indication. There’s more to life and you can have it.
You deserve it. Nothing is final unless you make it so.
Reach, or die with your music still inside you.
